Broad range of options offered by ACI Global Training Hub (GTH) - 26/03/2004

Geneva, Switzerland – At the invitation of the President of Aeroports de Paris, the ACI GTH (Global Training Hub) Expert Panel held its first meeting in Paris-Roissy 24 March 2004.

This group of airport experts comprises representatives from the six ACI regions: James Wilding for North America, Jerome Dandjinou for Africa, Abdulla Al Ansari for Asia, Dzintars Pomers for Europe, Miguel Southwell for Latin America/Caribbean and Catherine Rule for the Pacific. Other members of this Panel are Dr. Paul Genton, Managing Director of the ACI Fund, Pierre Coutu and Eddy Spry, both experts in training.

The GTH, in cooperation with other international organizations such as IATA, ICAO and AAAE, has a mandate to provide to all airports worldwide a framework for superior quality training and education. Among the actions taken by the GTH are forging partnerships with airports and universities, to fulfill the needs of the industry to optimize resources in an increasingly complex managerial environment. A by-product of these programs will be an international network of airport executives, sharing knowledge and experience, and providing the nucleus of tomorrow's airport leadership. Some GTH programs are targeted at training airport personnel to take on the role of instructors themselves.

Robert J. Aaronson, ACI's Director General, spoke of the GTH as a key value added-service for our members. The GTH was created both to evaluate and publicize training opportunities which currently exist, and also to meet the unique requirements of our members for new approaches in education.
