Geneva – ACI PaxFlash and FreightFlash data for January 2006 confirm the passenger and freight traffic growth trend reported at the end of 2005. The traffic growth percentages are based on total passengers departing, arriving and in direct transit at the airport, and the freight data include uploaded and downloaded freight tonnage. | |||||||||||||||||||

Passenger demand remained strong in January 2006 passenger traffic, increasing 5 percent compared to January 2005, buoyed by strong performance in Asia Pacific at 11 percent and the Middle East at 14 percent. Worldwide international passenger traffic rose by 6 percent and domestic by 5 percent for the same period. Total freight handled worldwide in January 2006 rose 2 percent compared Jan 2005, with monthly comparisons also showing that international freight rose by 3 percent and domestic by 1 percent. Poor result in the North America International market (down 4 percent) and flat growth in the domestic market (0.3) heavily impacted the overall growth percentage worldwide.
