| Geneva – ACI PaxFlash data for March 2006 confirm that the passenger traffic growth trend remains stable, with an increase of 3.8 percent as compared to March 2005 and a rise of 4.5 percent for the first quarter of 2006. For the past 12 months, the worldwide average increase reached 4.9 percent whereas international traffic rose by 5.7 percent for the same period. The Middle East continues to demonstrate remarkably strong growth with a 16 percent increase as compared to March 2005. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
ACI FreightFlash results for March indicate that domestic freight results remain flat, whereas sharp international traffic gains in all regions largely boosted overall results to nearly 7 percent. The Middle East region reports excellent growth of 16 percent in international freight, and the Asia Pacific region, which is the largest freight market by volume, had strong results both internationally (up 9.4 percent) and domestically (7.3 percent) This brings average growth for the past 12 months (year over year) to of 3 percent.
