Cannes, 19 October 2007 – Airports Council International says the air transport industry can grow while respecting its environmental commitments. Addressing aviation delegates at the World Air Transport Forum 2007 in Cannes today, ACI Director General Robert J Aaronson said, “The question is how, and what are the best strategies for each of the aviation stakeholders to employ in meeting their environmental responsibilities. Many tools are available today to better balance the use of infrastructure and the flow of traffic in an environmentally responsible way that reduces congestion and also reduces emissions.”
MONTREAL, 18 September 2007 – Aviation industry leaders from 35 international organisations and civil aviation regulators from 190 Governments meet in Montreal for the 36th International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) triennial assembly, which starts today. Representing the world’s airports will be a delegation from Airports Council International (ACI), led by Director General Robert J Aaronson.
GENEVA, 28 September 2007 – The range of products purchased by airports is vast. Everything from architectural services, concrete, fire rescue trucks and computer systems to office stationery needs to be bought to keep an airport operating. The time and cost involved in going through a proper tendering and procurement process for some of these items is significant. Continuing its priority goal of fostering efficiency at airports, Airports Council International will this Sunday launch ‘Aerobidz’, an internet-base tendering and procurement tool specifically designed for ACI member airports and their suppliers.
GENEVA, 28 September 2007 – Passenger demand continued its strong growth in August 2007 with world airports reporting a 6.5 percent increase compared to August 2006. International passenger traffic rose by 8 percent while domestic traffic increased by 5 percent. The particularly large increase in international passengers in the Middle East region primarily reflects the military conflict in Lebanon last year, resulting in no international traffic to Beirut in August 2006. Of note is the North America region, with 5 percent domestic and international passenger growth domestic. These are the best monthly growth figures in the past 9 months further strengthening the upwards trend in US demand.

International traffic rose sharply by 11 percent and domestic more modestly by 4 percent. Passenger growth is booming in the Middle East reflecting the impact of airlines who have increased fleets; a large number of events in the area; new airlines operating in the region; adoption of new Open Skies policy by Kuwait.
