Robust passenger traffic growth to start the year; air freight volumes inch up with some modest gains - Mar 15, 2016

Montréal, 15 March 2016 – Strong traffic growth at the end of 2015 has continued into January 2016, with overall passenger traffic growing by 6.9% compared to the same month last year. The plunge in global oil prices coincided with a rapid fall in global inflation expectations, in addition to a much slower pace of economic growth in China and the rest of the major emerging markets. Nevertheless, when compared to more mature markets, many emerging market economies performed well, thereby stimulating growth in passenger traffic. 

Airports Council International and Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile to offer Advanced Master’s Degree in Airport Management - Mar 07, 2016

Montreal, 7 March 2016 – Airports Council International (ACI) and Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC) have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation on the launch of an advanced aviation training programme, the Advanced Master’s Degree in Airport Management, aimed at developing the next generation of airport professionals. The signing, which took place today at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel during ACI’s 8th Annual Airport Economics and Finance Conference, marks the first time that ACI will partner with a university to offer an airport management degree.

ACI releases the 20th edition of the Airport Economics Report and Key Performance Indicators - Mar 07, 2016

Montréal, 7 March 2016 – Airports Council International (ACI) has released the 20th edition of the Airport Economics Report and Key Performance Indicators for the financial year 2014. With comprehensive data coverage from a sample of over 800 commercial airports, in-depth analyses of air transport demand, airport revenues and costs continue to be the bedrock of the report. The main drivers of aeronautical and commercial revenues, and sources of airport costs, are analyzed over time and across various dimensions. The link between airport size and financial performance is also examined within this context.

2016 Young Aviation Professional Programme participants announced - Mar 01, 2016

Montréal, 1 March 2016 – Participants representing three continents arrived in Montréal last week to begin taking part in the Young Aviation Professionals Programme, a special initiative led by ICAO in conjunction with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Airports Council International (ACI).

ACI and ICAO to enhance cooperation on airport security - Feb 29, 2016

Montréal, 29 February 2016 –Airports Council International (ACI) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have announced a new agreement aimed at reinforcing cooperation on airport security. The new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will see ACI and the UN aviation agency working more closely towards the objectives of ACI’s Airport Excellence (APEX) in Security programme, including working together to deliver security reviews, technical assistance, programmes for airport personnel training and the enhancement of regional partnerships.

Airports Council International announces 2015 Airport Service Quality Award winners - Feb 29, 2016

Montreal, 29 February 2016 – Airports Council International (ACI) today announced the winners of the 2015 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards. The world’s premier passenger service benchmarking programme for airports, ASQ delivered over 550,000 in-depth passenger surveys at over 300 airports across more than 80 countries worldwide last year. The 2015 results represent the world’s best in class airports where improving the customer experience is concerned—appraised by passengers while they are traveling and the experience is fresh in their minds.  

Preliminary data points to growth of over 6% in accumulated passenger traffic for 2015; air freight volumes in positive territory - Feb 16, 2016

Global passenger traffic grew by 5.9% in the month of December 2015 and by 6.1% for the period from January to December 2015, with equally strong growth in both international and domestic passenger traffic (+6.2% and +6.1% respectively). 

ACI commends ICAO on global agreement on CO2 standard for aircraft - Feb 08, 2016

Montreal, 8 February 2016 – Governments, industry and environmental groups meeting at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have today finalized the design of the first global certification standard for CO2 emissions from new aircraft. The new environmental measure was unanimously recommended by the 170 international experts on ICAO’s Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP), paving the way for its ultimate adoption by the UN agency’s 36-State Governing Council.

ACI’s Airport Excellence in Safety programme celebrates five years of helping airports enhance operational safety - Jan 18, 2016

Montreal, 18 January 2016 – Airports Council International (ACI) is celebrating five years of the Airport Excellence (APEX) in Safety programme with the first review of 2016. The APEX in Safety team, along with a group of volunteer Safety Assessors from Safety Partner airports, arrived in Tunis, Tunisia earlier today to begin a review of Tunis-Carthage International Airport which will run to 22 January.

Accumulated passenger traffic grows by over 6% for eleven months; 1.3% decline in air freight volumes for November 2015 - Jan 13, 2016

Montréal, 13 January 2016 – On a year-to-date basis up to November, global passenger traffic has risen by 6.2% as compared to the previous year at the world’s major airports. For the sole month of November, passenger traffic increased by 6.3% year over year.
