Angela Gittens was appointed Director General of ACI World in April 2008. With over twenty-five years of aviation experience, Gittens has expansive knowledge of airport business management, policy issues and contractual frameworks.
Prior to joining ACI, Gittens served as Vice-President of HNTB for Airport Business Services, a leading firm in transportation infrastructure services. She led the firm’s practice in business and strategic planning, revenue enhancement, concessions planning and programme implementation, financial analysis and commercial development.
Gittens has held top executive positions at three of the largest US airport systems. Under her direction, Miami International Airport attained international recognition for its environmental achievements with ISO 14001 certification, the first airport in the US to do so. In addition to a multi-billion capital improvement programme, the business plan that she instigated restored MIA’s competitiveness in cargo and passenger markets after years of decline, garnering the participation and support of the airlines, airport management staff and the governing authority.
Dr. Yiannis N. Paraschis
Dr Yiannis N. Paraschis is the Chief Executive Officer of the “Athens International Airport S.A.” (AIA) since 2007. He joined AIA shortly after its establishment in 1996. Prior to the Airport Company he worked ten years in international management consulting.
Dr Paraschis is the Chairman of the Airports Council International (ACI) World Governing Board. He also served as Chairman of ACI Europe from 2007 to 2009. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors in the leading Greek Media Company DOL SA, member of the Board of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE), member of the Board of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE), and chairman of the Board of the Athens Airport Fuel Pipeline Company S.A.
He holds a M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the University of Hamburg in Germany.
Fredrick Piccolo has over forty-two years' experience in the aviation industry and has been President, Chief Executive Officer of the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport since 1995. He began his career as a janitor at the Buffalo International Airport, and after earning a BS degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo, held several airport positions at the Greater Buffalo International Airport including Building Superintendent and Assistant to Airport Manager. He then took the position of Assistant Director of Operations at Tampa International Airport and just prior to his position at SRQ, he was the Assistant Airport Director at the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport.
Mr. Piccolo has served as President of the Florida Airports Council, an association that advocates the general advancement of aviation through cooperative efforts of professional airport managers throughout the State. He has also served as the 2007 Chair of the Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA), an aviation organization that represents local, regional, state, and national governing bodies that own and operate commercial airports in the United States, Canada, and the Virgin Islands. He presently serves as Vice Chair on the Board of Directors of Airports Council International - World, which unites all the airports in the world into a single organization.
