Worldwide airport traffic flourishes in March - 04/05/2010
GENEVA, 4 May 2010 – Worldwide passenger traffic rose by 7.6 percent in March 2010, as compared to March 2009, and increased by 6.1 percent for the first quarter. Continued strong freight traffic resurgence was reported for March, with a 25.6 percent rise in total freight compared to March 2009, boosted by international freight which shot upward by 32.4 percent and domestic by 14.6 percent, in stark contrast to the poor results in the first quarter of 2009.

ACI pledges support for Abuja Declaration, Strengthening regional security initiatives in Africa - 14/04/2010
Geneva, 14 April 2010 – ACI World Director General, Angela Gittens, spoke this week at the African Regional Ministerial Conference on Aviation Security in Abuja, Nigeria. She comments, “We are seeing a groundswell of political will in every region to work together to strengthen aviation security. Strong international traffic drives February traffic results - 23/02/2010
GENEVA, 31 March 2010 – Improving traffic results seen in December and January continue into February, according to ACI PaxFlash and FreightFlash reports. Total global traffic grew +6.8 percent, boosted by a strong increase of +9 percent in international traffic and domestic growth of +4.8 percent.

January traffic shows strong start for the year: Global passenger traffic up by 6%; global freight up 25% - 23/02/2010
GENEVA, 4 March 2010 – ACI PaxFlash and FreightFlash participants report a sustained growth pattern in January, following the positive results registered in December. Global airport passenger traffic rose by 6 percent in January 2010 compared to January 2009 and freight was up by a strong 25 percent A 12-month rolling comparison shows that the passenger traffic decline has narrowed to a -1.7 percent gap and freight to -4.5 percent, (comparison Jan 2009 -Jan 2110 over Jan 2008- Jan 2009).

Strong traffic growth in December 2009, Global passenger traffic up by 5%; freight up 23% - 04/02/2010
GENEVA, 3 February 2010 – In December 2009, the ACI PaxFlash and FreightFlash traffic reports show a surge in traffic worldwide. Global airport passenger traffic rose by 5.3 percent relative to December 2008 (Table 1). Both international passenger traffic (up by 5.6 %) and domestic traffic (up by 5.2 %) were boosted by strong performance across Asia Pacific (+15.7 % international; +14% domestic). All regions saw increases, except for North America which remained flat, as shown in the Table 2 of this release.

November traffic boosts annual growth average in 2009, Global passenger traffic up by 4%; Freight up 11% - 07/01/2010
GENEVA, 6 January 2010 – ACI’s monthly PaxFlash and Freight Flash reports show strong positive growth in both passenger numbers and freight tonnage in November. Angela Gittens, Director General ACI World, comments, “The steady improvement of traffic at airports indicates that losses for the year may be softer than originally expected. In the first quarter 2009 airports registered an alarming downward spiral yet since mid-year we have witnessed the return of demand – first for domestic and now for international travel. For sure, we are comparing November 2009 against November 2008, the month which had the biggest traffic losses in that year. Nonetheless positive passenger growth in all categories – overall global, international and domestic – indicates that the industry remains on track for a rebound.

October traffic: stabilization continues, Freight traffic growth seen for the first time since July 2008 - 04/12/2009
GENEVA, 04 December 2009 – ACI’s monthly FreightFlash reports1.4 percent increase in international freight, 2.2 percent increase for domestic freight and 1.3 percent increase for total freight traffic in October 2009 compared to October 2008. Airports asked to strengthen their voice to improve the industry - 04/11/2009
Kuala Lumpur, 4 November 2009 – The Airports Council International welcomed over 600 representatives from 67 countries at their annual meeting this week. After welcoming the delegates, host for the event Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports introduced Jim Cherry, ACI Chair since 2007, who focused on strategies for weathering the turbulence of recent years, and working closely with our partners across the industry. Paraphrasing President John F Kennedy, Cherry said, “What unites us is far more important that what divides us, and that holds true for the airline – airport relationship. We must work with the airlines association IATA successfully, on the climate change issue, and we must maintain the momentum. September traffic confirms “green shoots” - 03/11/2009
GENEVA, 02 November 2009 – ACI’s September 2009 PaxFlash traffic indicates that the stabilization trend of the past two months has been maintained and the domestic traffic in certain national markets is registering real growth relative to September 2008. ACI Monthly Traffic Statistics - July 2009 - 02/09/2009
GENEVA, 02 September 2009 – Global passenger traffic in July 2009 showed positive signs of stabilisation, according to the ACI PaxFlash report. ACI World Director General Angela Gittens comments, “This is a scenario where we can draw optimism from a negative. Although overall traffic is still lower than 2008, the gap is narrowing significantly. Total traffic worldwide was down by 1.2 percent in July, but reflects a rising growth trend when compared to declines of 5 percent in June and 8 percent in May. It may still be too soon to assume the worst is over, but results in a few key markets are most encouraging.

ACI Monthly Traffic Statistics - June 2009 - 31/07/2009
GENEVA, 30 July 2009 – Airports Council International reports that global traffic in June 2009 was down by 5 percent compared to June 2008. Although markedly lower than June 2008, this is a clear improvement over the 8 percent slump recorded in May. Similarly for freight results, traffic was down worldwide by 13.5 percent. Although still starkly lower than June 2008, the gap with the previous year’s growth has narrowed when compared to performance over the first six months, which was down on average by 18.8 percent. Asia Pacific airports report positive domestic freight traffic growth (+3.6%) and Middle Eastern airports led in the international results category (+1.9%).

ACI World Traffic Report 2008 - 27/07/2009
Geneva,27 July 2009 - A record number of 1357 airports, representing approximately 98 percent of global airport traffic, contributed to the 2008 World Airport Traffic Report, released this week. The total number of arriving and departing passengers rose to 4.874 billion passengers, compared to 4.869 billion in 2007, for a marginal growth of 0.1 percent for the year. International passenger traffic, which accounts for 42 percent of global traffic, was up by 2.4 percent for the year as compared to a decline of 1.4 percent in domestic traffic.

Traffic remains stubbornly low in May - 03/07/2009
GENEVA, 03 July 2009 - Airport traffic results for May 2009 remain markedly lower than traffic levels of May 2008. Persistent economic uncertainty and the H1N1 virus have taken a toll on demand. Airports participating in the passenger and freight reports recorded an overall 8 percent decrease in passenger traffic as compared to May 2008, with international traffic declining by 9 percent and domestic traffic by 7 percent.

March passenger and freight traffic remains depressed - ACI concerned about impact of Swine Influenza - 30/04/2009
GENEVA, 30 April 2009 – Global airport traffic in March and for the first quarter of 2009 remains starkly lower than in 2008, with international traffic falling by 11 percent for the month and by 10 percent for the first quarter. The decline has slowed, however, in the Asia Pacific and Africa regions, and March domestic traffic across all regions showed signs of a softening contraction, down 6 percent against 7.5 percent for the first quarter. For total worldwide traffic in March, airport reports show 8 percent fewer passengers than March 2008, and the worldwide average for the first quarter 2009 is also down by just over 8 percent.

Geneva, 17 March 2009 – Strong traffic results early in 2008 helped save the overall averages for the year, as seen in the ACI preliminary airport data. While passenger traffic growth hovered at -0.2 percent and cargo shrank by -3.6 percent, total aircraft movements dropped by -2.2 percent, led by the largest world market North America where movement reductions (-5.6 percent) were greater than the decline in passenger numbers (-3 percent).

Airport traffic spirals downward in January 2009 - 04/03/2009
GENEVA, 4 March 2009 – January 2009 traffic growth fell by 6 percent relative to January 2008, continuing the steady traffic decline of the past months. Freight results served as a grim reminder that industrial output is shrinking, with international freight hardest hit with a 27 percent drop against an overall drop of 22 percent.
